FAQ
Everything most homeowners want to know before commissioning an AlderStone project.
I begin every engagement with a short introductory conversation, followed by a property assessment. Together they let me understand the home, your goals, and the most useful interventions before I recommend any service.
Yes. Every project is scoped around your home and brief. Even my fixed services are tailored in detail through the planning phase, and the Bespoke Renovation Project exists specifically for fully custom scopes.
Always. Every AlderStone project starts with a written scope that explains what's included, what isn't, the timeline, and the agreed cost. Nothing begins until we both confirm the plan.
Once a scope is agreed, I propose start dates and key milestones in writing. Schedules are deliberately realistic — I'd rather quote a calm timeline I can meet than an optimistic one I can't.
Payment is taken securely via Stripe using the link provided for each service. Larger bespoke projects are quoted individually and may be invoiced in agreed stages tied to milestones.
No. AlderStone Projects only delivers defined, one-time residential improvement projects. There are no subscriptions, memberships, retainers, or maintenance plans.
I conduct a final review walk-through with you, confirm that the agreed scope has been delivered, address any small adjustments on the spot, and hand the space back to you tidy and ready to use.
I'm London-based and work primarily across the city. For projects further afield, please get in touch and I'll let you know if I can take it on.
Yes — the Property Review & Planning and Interior Refresh Project services are designed for focused, smaller engagements. Small projects still receive the same studio approach.
Yes. AlderStone Projects is an independent sole trader business operated by Saugat Thapa. The person who plans your project is the same person who delivers it.
I stand behind the work I deliver. If something within the agreed scope is not right at the final review, I'll put it right.
Reasonable changes can usually be accommodated. They'll be documented as a written scope amendment so everyone is clear on what's changed and any impact on timeline or cost.
I treat every home with care — floors and surfaces are protected, the space is kept tidy day-to-day, and the site is left clean at the end of each working session.
Nothing formal. A brief description of what you'd like to improve and a few photos of the space are usually enough to make our first conversation productive.
